Guaranty Trust Bank Lagos Fashion & Design week is a four day fashion event aimed at promoting the fashion culture in Nigeria. It aims to ‘reposition fashion as a useful tool for commerce and creativity in Nigeria’.
I was able to get my hands on a press pass which gives me access to all four days of the fashion event.
DAY 1
I was looking forward to the ‘April By Kunbi’ and ‘Phunk Afrique’ showcase as these were the only designers I had heard about prior to the show. They did not disappoint.

This (image above) was by far my favourite look by Phunk Afrique. The picture does not do the material any justice. It shimmered beautifully in the light.

Everybody needs an April by Kunbi dress! She presented us with clean and polished outfits – All very commercial and ready to wear! The pictures were unable to capture the slight shimmer on the yellow dress below.

Mo Faris wowed the audience with this spectacular orange piece! Their collection seemed to be inspired by the tropics.

I was unable to watch the ‘Sisiano’ show, however, I would like to make an open request to the designer for the masterpiece below!

After the main show, some of the Fashion Focus finalists were able to present their designs. I was particularly wowed by ‘Cinnamon & Pearl’, ‘Michael Shumaker’ and ‘Fruche’!

One designer to look out for ‘Weiz Dhurm Franklyn’. LOVED the way he presented some of his pieces – very ‘polished samurai’!

I was very impressed with the taste level of all the designers that presented. What a great way to start off fashion week!
