There are two aspects to this campaign. First, we encourage our domestic businesses by buying their products. Second, we create global awareness and tap into foreign markets. Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW) was, in my opinion, developed to do just that! The platform brings together buyers, consumers and the media to view the current collections of African designers in Nigeria’s fashion capital, Lagos.
Moving away from that essay format, the images below belong to a campaign by Models.com. It was shot at Alara – a retail space in Lagos cleverly designed by David Adjaye of Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture – by photographer Lakin Ogunbanwo. The intent of the shoot was to showcase a curated selection of the best of Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2016.
